🎼Willemeen Jongerenwerk & Klassiek: Voelen, horen en ervaren hoe het is om samen met andere jongeren een groot klassiek orkest te beleven in Arnhem? Dat kan op zaterdag 25 mei, tijdens Willemeen & Klassiek: Ode aan Duke Ellington in Musis Arnhem, en dat voor maar 6 euro!🎻

Wat? 🎶 Je hoort het niet vaak, de spetterende combinatie van een jazzband en een symfonieorkest. Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw en Phion laat het horen in dit unieke concert ter ere van de vijftig jaar geleden overleden Duke Ellington. 🎹

Waar? We spreken af voor Willemeen om 19:00 uur en lopen met z'n allen gezellig naar Musis📯

**Voor wie? **Alle jongeren uit Arnhem en omstreken met de leeftijd 15 tm 27 jaar. Voelen, horen, ervaren hoe het is om samen met andere jongeren een groot klassiek orkest te beleven in Arnhem? Dat kan op zaterdag 25 mei! We verzamelen om 19:00 bijjongerencentrum Willemeen en vertrekken gezamelijk naar Musis met andere jongeren uit Arnhem en omstreken.

Klassieke muziek en jongeren, het lijken twee tegenpolen. Het lukt concertzalen maar mondjesmaat om jongeren te verleiden om klassieke concerten te bezoeken. Ligt dit aan het ietwat stoffige imago van klassieke muziek of is de financiële drempel om zo’n concert te bezoeken voor veel jongeren toch te hoog? Een pasklaar antwoord op deze vragen is er niet.

Toch luisteren we allemaal – vaak onbewust – naar grote hoeveelheden klassieke muziek. Films en series zitten vaak tjokvol klassiek georiënteerde muziek. Denk aan series als Game of Thrones en films als Lord of The Rings en Star Wars. Ook computergames zijn vaak doordrenkt met prachtige soundtracks die speciaal voor deze games gecomponeerd zijn. Denk bijvoorbeeld een spellen als Skyrim, Halo en Mass Effect. De soundtracks van games, films, reclamespots en series worden zelfs wereldwijd uitgevoerd door orkesten en trekken zalen vol met jongeren en jongvolwassenen. Op zaterdag 25 mei kijken en luisteren we naar het grote Phion orkest die een ode breng aan Duke Ellington!

We gather at the Willemeen youth center at 19:00 and leave together for Musis with other young people from Arnhem and the surrounding area.

Classical music and young people, they seem like two opposites. Concert halls have only limited success in enticing young people to visit classical concerts. Is this due to the somewhat dusty image of classical music or is the financial threshold for visiting such a concert too high for many young people? There is no ready-made answer to these questions.

Yet we all listen – often unconsciously – to large amounts of classical music. Films and series are often chock full of classically oriented music. Think of series like Game of Thrones and films like Lord of The Rings and Star Wars. Computer games are also often imbued with beautiful soundtracks composed especially for these games. Consider, for example, games like Skyrim, Halo and Mass Effect. The soundtracks of games, films, commercials and series are even performed worldwide by orchestras and attract halls full of young people and young adults. On Saturday may 25th, we will watch and listen to the large Phion orchestra paying tribute to Duke Ellington!
