YEAR OF THE GOAT (SWE / Napalm Records)

Year Of The Goat was formed back in 2006 as a side project for Thomas Sabbathi and Fredrik Hellerström, while working with other metal and doom bands. The idea and vision was to explore the music that lay close to the heart as well as to embark on a journey of creative freedom that lead to a band with three guitars and the eerie sounds of the Mellotron.

2011 saw the dawning of the first release from the band, ”Lucem Ferre”, a tribute to Lucifer, the bringer of light, who triumphs over narrow minded iron age superstitions. This EP was also the opener for the album ”Angels Necropolis” (2012), with a theme that is sort of on anti thesis to Miltons ”Paradise Lost”. The EP and Album was well received among many critics and a growing audience. Receiving the ”Metal Hammer Award” for best debut album in Germany along with bookings at festivals like Hellfest, Summer Breeze and Sweden Rock.

After touring and promoting the album the band entered the studio to record their second album in 2014. The new album, ”The Unspeakable” released on July 31st of 2015 via Napalm Records, was once again opened by an EP, this time named the ”Key and the Gate”(2014). The band seems to have taken the idea of a concept album one step further by adding an opening EP to set the mood and to pave way for what is to come.

The latest album has been received well by most critics and the hard core fans of the band are mostly ecstatic to different degrees. The sound of the band has been called grand, majestic, retro and progressive. The band’s love for sweet melodies, dark atmospheres and contrasts truly reveal themselves on ”The Unspeakable”.

New EP will be released in December on Napalm Records.

THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL (SWE / Napalm Records)

Facebook

There are bands that are just too big and wide-ranging to fit in a box, like THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL. Tom Sutton (ex-Church Of Misery) and Patrik Andersson Winberg (ex Doomdogs) two members of the line-up, already have made it in the Doom scene, so this is a sure indication that this band will break any speed records. And of course, THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL are rooted in Doom, but they shouldn’t be reduced to the pure slow-motion sound, because Wisdom is clearly too complex. Wisdom is a record of big gestures and stories and is full of epic beauty and magic. This is not music to be consumed just casually, but a widescreen sound with invitation to dive into tempting and dangerous world. Doom, Hard Rock, Metal, Folk - THE ORDER OF ISRAFEL play with many elements and form a compact unit out of it, with songs to never get boring. A mystical and mysterious album with a high potential to get addicted to. In short: An entry made to measure!
