As one of the most influential bands to come from NOLA, they have noted Black Flag, The Melvins and Black Sabbath as a domineering and significant influence to their sound today.
That combined with the sound of Southern Rock, Blues riffs and Hardcore Punk has made EYEHATEGOD one of the most reputable and distinctive bands ever, even defining a brand new genre now known as Sludge, though the band strays away from being labeled as such.

Dat er in Arnhem een goede voedingsbodem voor hardcorebands is dat hebben New Morality en Strike First ruimschoots bewezen. Strike First is er al een tijdje niet meer, en nadat New Morality hun laatste toon gespeeld had was het even akelig stil in Arnhem. Gelukkig vonden een aantal leden elkaar alweer snel in hun gezamenlijke liefde voor Black Sabbath en is er weer een nieuwe band waar Arnhem trots op kan zijn. Want wat krijg je als hardcorekids naar Black Sabbath gaan luisteren? Juist. Lifelong!
