Live - Intermediate & Advanced Performance & Sequencing
This course will cover a number of lesser-known tools and tricks for experienced users, and it will also disclose several highly unique and unorthodox uses of Ableton
Live developed privately by the instructor. With these advanced techniques there are many more exciting possibilities for live performance and sequencing/recording. Some of the many lessons covered include playing drums or melodies on the computer keypad, using video game controllers and other USB devices to trigger and effect sounds/loops, general MIDI usage, and various types of sample manipulation.
Following an hour-long instructional portion, students will each be allowed a chance to manipulate the instructor's custom-made Live set in order to get some hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the software. Meanwhile, the rest of the class can watch and enjoy some of the freshest in live interactive music.
(Materials required: none, but a computer with Ableton
Live version 5 or later would be helpful. Students are welcome to bring their own USB video game controllers or other USB devices.)
