I. Ableton Live - Introduction & General Operation

 

Ableton Live is a unique and versatile software platform for producing, mixing and performing music of all styles. Geared towards musicians, producers, laptop artists and DJs alike, it has quickly risen to being the single-most popular music application on stage, as well as being an extremely powerful home recording and sequencing engine.

 

This course will cover everything that you can do in Live, from basic song and loop manipulation and remixing to multi-track recording and editing and basic MIDI instrument operation.  For beginners or experienced users who want to round out basic knowledge of Live from top to bottom. 

 

Following an hour-long instructional portion, students will each be allowed a chance to manipulate the instructor's custom-made Live set in order to get some hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the software.  Meanwhile, the rest of the class can watch and enjoy some of the freshest in live interactive music.

 

(Materials required: none, but a computer with Ableton Live version 5 or later would be helpful.)
